Kavasila or Kavasilas is a lowland village at an altitude of 23m with 1,550 residents. It has a community library, a nursery school and a primary school. It took its name after St. Nikolas Kavasila who founded the monastery nearby. On May 10^th, the village celebrates the memory of the native St. Nikolas with the custom of kouloura. In mid-August the village organizes the Wine Feast with an exposition of local goods, dance groups and of course abundant wine. Kavasila village has a local football team and a theater, where theatrical and musical performances take place.
