Kavasila or Kavasilas is a lowland village at an altitude of 23m with 1,550 residents. It has a community library, a nursery school and a primary school. It took its name after St. Nikolas Kavasila who founded the monastery nearby. On May 10th, the village celebrates the memory of the native St. Nikolas with the custom of kouloura. In mid-August the village organizes the Wine Feast with an exposition of local goods, dance groups and of course abundant wine. Kavasila village has a local football team and a theater, where theatrical and musical performances take place.
